6 fancy food designs that will knock your socks off (2024)

We are so excited to share with you some adorable food designs, from the fabulous Instagram @luxeandthelady. There are donuts, cookies and smoothies shaped like our favorite characters. We been stalking her page for over a year and begged her to share some of her tips and tricks for these creations.

Take a look…

Hello, my name is Jessica, and I’m a food and flatlay stylist with a fondness for baking, making, and all things cute. You can see all my creations on Instagram @luxeandthelady. I love finding fun ways to bring my favorite animals and childhood characters to life using ingredients I spot at the grocery store.

I’m excited to share some of my most loved creations with you (picked by Maria and I). I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to let me know of any characters that you would like to see me turn into food.

Please enjoy these creations.

I love frosted animal crackers (and could seriously eat an entire bag in one sitting lol), but for this project I decided to do something a bit different.

The cookie recipe is from the Food Network (I modified it slightly by subbing in lemon extract for half of the vanilla), then I made a simple funfetti frosting dip by mixing together whipped buttercream, a little food coloring, and lots of sprinkles.

This is one of the items I make for gifts the most too (when gifting I typically dip the bottom half into colored white chocolate) as I can change the color/ sprinkles for the holiday or event, and its such a nostalgic flavor and cookie,

When I worked with Scentsy, one of the items that they sent to me to style was their buddy, Boris the yeti. Boris is a cuddly stuffed animal that kids (or adults like me J ) can snuggle with at night, and he even has a little zippered pouch where a fav Scentsy scent pak can be added.

I thought it would be fun to turn him into chocolate cupcakes, and used fondant and peppermint buttercream to mimic his koala bear like features and fuzzy snowsuit.

3. Cookie Monster Donuts

Adorable monsters always make me smile, but none so much as Cookie Monster. I wanted to find a way to turn him into a treat that captured his silliness (and especially those googly eyes).

I started by baking mini cake donuts, and then decorated them with stiff buttercream (this is totally the kind of frosting that turns your mouth blue hehe), a half of a mini oreo, eye sprinkles (turned over so that I could use the blank side to pipe my own on for extra personality), and Cookie Crisp cereal for his favorite cookie.

If you want to see how I did it in even more detail, I created a little stop motion movie of the process on my Instagram page.

Oh bother! I started making smoothie bowls shaped into different animals and characters as a way to incorporate the healthy food I typically eat into my whimsical food art.

Pooh bear seemed like a perfect choice as he is truly as sweet as the honey he adores and cute as can be.

I combined frozen mango, pineapple, banana, and almond milk in the blender, then poured it into my bowl and added dark chocolate for the face. His ears are cut out of fresh mango.

I fully believe in celebrating every holiday with special treats, and am especially partial to Easter as bunnies are my favorite animals (I have a pet bunny named Mouse so I may be biased).

Last Easter I baked Cream Cheese Crescent Bunnies for brunch using crescent roll dough and cream cheese filling.

They were super simple to make, and decorate with mini chocolate chips, heart sprinkles, and fluffy tails cut out of marshmallows (using a flower cookie cutter). I still haven’t decided what I’m making to bring to Easter brunch this year, so I better hop to it lol!

6. Character Toast

I follow some crazy talented food accounts, and noticed them turning a typically boring piece of toast into teddy bears and cats, so I wanted to give it my own spin and see what else could be made (especially with avocado toast being so popular and delicious).

BMO (from Adventure Time), Hamm and Pochacco were made by naturally coloring cream cheese and then decorating with fruit and chocolate, Pooh was made with lemon curd and mango, and Mike is avocado with cucumber, cheese, and olives.
