Do you still have time for yourself? Does work take most of your time? When was the last time you had a spa day? Do you feel like you lack relaxation?

If you haven’t been giving your body the relaxation that you need after a long week of work, then it is time for you to treat yourself to a spa day at home.

So how do you have a spa day at home? And what do you need to make it happen?

First of all,, you need to pick a day of the week that will not interfere with your busy schedule, preferably a weekend. A weekend is better because it will not interfere with your busy schedule, and part of the reason why you want to relax, is because work just tires you out too much.

Aside from a weekend being better, it will also get you ready for the hustle and bustle of work life when you back to work on a Monday.

Always remember that you have to pick a day without interruptions, remove or close everything that will make you feel stressed, light up a few candles to set the mood and start with something that will detoxify your body.

Take a long uninterrupted hot bath

Lounging in your bathtub with some nice hot water will definitely set the mood towards the rest of your night. Having a long bath will not only make your body feel relaxed, it will also relax your mind.

Having a glass of Champagne or a cup of tea, and putting on some relaxing music will definitely put you in a chill mood. Have a nice fluffy bath towel waiting for you for when you get out.

To make your bath very productive, you can try some of these techniques to help you get some added benefits:

  • Add some bath salts

this is a great way to detoxify. By adding some bath salts to your bath, it can give you the benefits of aromatherapy, kind of like the aromas you get to smell when you are at a normal spa.Though the best thing about having a bathtub is the fact that you do not have to limit yourself to just one bath additive. You can also try bubble baths, bath bombs, bath oils, and bath beads. As long as it will help you relax, don’t be afraid to give it a try.

  • Add some scented candles

Scented candles are a great way to relax. The aroma that a candle gives off will help you relax much more. You can try buying candles with aromatherapy effects on the body such as lavender, rose, or citrus scents to help your body relax.

You can also try turning off your lights completely, and just light up a few candles. Let the darkness take you into another world. Sometimes it helps to be in a really dark place with just your favorite music playing. If you don’t like sitting in the dark, you can just dim your lights.

  • Massage your sore muscles

Give yourself a little rub as you lay in the hot water.

When you are done your bath, get out and dry your skin with your big fluffy towel. Now is the time to apply a body lotion or body oil. Let the moisturizer sink in before getting dressed.

Give Yourself a Facial

  • Exfoliate your face

After you have taken your bath, you can now exfoliate your skin. Follow these simple steps:

Wet your skin with warm water, and use a washcloth or a facial brush or scrub and wash your skin to take out the dead skin lurking around your face.
Be sure to be gentle on yourself while you scrub, too much scrubbing or too much pressure can cause damage to your pores. Make sure to scrub gently.
If you have sensitive skin, make sure to use something that will not agitate your face.
Choose a facial scrub that will work well with your skin. Always make sure that it is not too strong, so that it will not cause damage.

  • Give yourself a steam treatment

Steam has been proven to do wonders on your skin. That is why spa houses use this regularly to open your pores. It gets rid of all the dirt, and it will make it easier for you to moisturize your skin effectively. If you do not know how to do this on your own, you can follow these simple steps:

Fill up a bowl or a small pot with water and heat it on your stove till it begins to steam. Make sure that it is hot enough, so that you can effectively open your pores.
Drape a towel over your head and place the bowl in front of your face, be sure to hold your face to the bowl as close as you can until you can feel the extreme heat on your face, of course it has to be a comfortable kind of hot, not a painful one.
You can add a drop of lavender, tree oil or rose oil, so that your face feels refreshed with aroma.
Hold it there for about two to three minutes.

  • Do a face mask

A facial mask can leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed. Apply it to your face for 15 minutes and then wash it off, taking dirt and impurities with it.

      • For dry skin, use cosmetic clay mixed with honey and olive oil.
      • For oily skin, use cosmetic clay mixed with honey and apple cider vinegar.
      • For normal skin, use cosmetic clay mixed with honey and yogurt.
  • Apply your moisturizer

Trap moisture into your skin by using your favorite lotion or facial oil.

All in all, these small things that you can do around your house, will leave you relaxed and ready to take on the stress of work the following week. Now this is how to have a spa day at home.
